The confluence of virtual, augmented, mixed and extended reality is creating an omnivorous workplace that cultivates simulation and collaboration for the post-pandemic workspace.
The pandemic has greatly catalyzed the emergence of hybrid work setups and now it is pushing the boundaries of work environments towards the metaverse.
Prabir Jha, CEO of JHA People Advisory, a strategic advisory firm based in New Delhi, posits that metaverse solutions make online collaboration more fun and effective irrespective of the locations where team members are working from.
Jha explains that the hybrid workspace is likely to enter the metaverse for the following reasons:
- Metaverse solutions will allow everyone to feel they are in the same room.
- The convergence of metaverses, digital platforms, decentralized and open applications will create a very different paradigm of workflows.
- Many new job roles will get created along with a new web of inter-relationships.
He adds that with the rise of metaverse-based workspaces, human resources need to ensure measures for employees’ psychological well-being are in place. Jha says “HR will need to carefully sift through its policy regime choices to ensure a healthy equilibrium between the virtual and physical.”
