Philippines’ working environment for women gets high rating
The Philippines is among the countries in East Asia where laws protecting female workers have substantially improved, a study made by the World Bank showed. According to the article, “Women, Business and the Law 2019: A Decade of Reform”, the country logged fairly substantial improvement in laws affecting women throughout their working lives. The nation scored 81.25 in the study, which looked into eight indicators, including the economic standing of women in such areas as Going Places, Starting a Job, Getting Paid, Getting Married, Having Children, Running a Business, Managing Assets, and Getting a Pension. Because of the laws that protect them, Filipino women get equal access to jobs and career advancement in the said eight indicators. For instance, under the first indicator, Going Places, which compares the constraints on freedom of movement of women with their male counterparts, the Philippines scored 75.
