Building a Remote-Work Platform – with Maria Sucgang of Remotify

Building a Remote-Work Platform – with Maria Sucgang of Remotify

In this week’s episode of the Outsource Accelerator Podcast, Derek speaks with Maria Sucgang, CEO and Co-Founder of Remotify.

They discuss how her platform Remotify, is currently doing, new outsourcing opportunities, and the changes brought on by the rush of modern technologies.

Remotify and its current accolades

Maria explains that Remotify aims to create a remote workplace where employees feel valued, connected, and cared for.

“[It] then translates to a longer lifetime value. Our platform brings together technology and [a] culture that feels like home.

[You’re] getting the best of traditional outsourcing, the best of Internet job freedom, and the best of Employer of Record.”

She emphasizes that it’s their unique company culture that really sets them apart and allows them to work at a unique level.

“96% of our employee base, including those that are assigned for our clients, say we’re highest on community, intimacy, corporate image, hospitality, and justice.

And that can only be done [by] codifying a culture that can be shared across miles, even when we’re remote.”

She says that this approach was very intentional and part of how Remotify was built from the start.

“We designed that in our platform, to encourage that it’s not just isolated work without the human elements.

It’s very important that when we design technology, it’s human-centered. It must be with the heart of elevating human experiences, not isolating humans.”

Maria brings us up to speed on how the company has been doing and its recent achievements.

“We’ve been very active in the startup scene, [and] in June we were in Canada. We were selected as one of four startups to represent the Philippines at Collision Conference.

We also attended the DMZ YYZ program, [the] program of the Toronto Metropolitan University. We also traveled to Vancouver because I spoke at a university there [to] MBA students about leadership and sharing the story of Remotify.”

She takes pride in how their industry has grown and become recognized globally.

“Filipinos have been essential to the scalable growth of a lot of international startups and mid-market companies. After the pandemic, everybody realized that it’s not only the big boys that could outsource.”

Outsourcing talent for global staffing

Maria sees plenty of potential in expanding their operations to staff talent from other nations as well, not just the Philippines. But first, it’s about building a strong foundation of their own.

“Our go-to market strategies really go deep in every country that we enter. And so the first strategy is to attract great talents.

That’s why we’ve been very focused on making sure that we are a great place to work.”

She’s looking forward to the new opportunities that the market presents.

“I’m super excited that the Philippine government and IBPAP, you know, our private and public sector, are working together to upskill.

It’s a matter of how, not just the warm bodies we have or the demographic we have, but being able to upskill lifelong learning, adaptation to artificial intelligence, and making sure we have more talents in that space.”

Adapting to a new technological era

Maria fully believes that the best response to all the new technologies is to adapt to become proficient with them, a philosophy she applies with Remotify.

“The speed at which we will adopt is the speed at which people will want to adopt. But the people who don’t want to adopt will really be out of a job.

That’s why it’s very important that we instill very quickly the ability to learn fast.”

However, she thinks that it should still come down to connections.

“The fundamentals are that people still want autonomy, equity, inclusion, and belonging.”
