Positive Impact Outsourcing Firm Hiring from 192 Countries – with Geoff Hucker of Work for Impact
In this episode of the Outsource Accelerator Podcast, Derek speaks with Geoff Hucker, Founder and CEO of Work for Impact.
Geoff tells his story about starting his humanitarian efforts in underserved communities and then eventually evolving his work into an outsourcing venture.
Work for Impact
Before entering the outsourcing scene, Geoff founded an organization called Beyond the Orphanage.
“[Our] founding mission was to work with kids regardless of their race, religion, [or] physical and mental challenges.”
He observed that there was also a great need for employment opportunities for these people, which eventually led him to outsourcing.
“[It’s] using technology to provide global opportunities for young people in low-income countries.”
Geoff describes Work for Impact’s unique approach.
“Work for Impact is a new look at the traditional outsourcing solution. We’re a tech-first global solution.
So we work without borders, and we work predominantly in low-income countries to provide solutions for mainly enterprise-sized clients.”
The company aims to be beneficial for everyone involved.
“One of the unique things about Work for Impact is that the value proposition for the organization employing is very good, but also [it’s] very good for the talent.
So it’s sort of that win-win.”
Geoff details how they communicate with clients to get them what they need from their vast talent pool.
“We listen very deeply to our clients, what they want, their price point, what they want to solve, their challenges.
And we know the global market very well, and we will work with them to find the best country to suit their needs.”
Unlocking outsourcing for global benefit
Even while part of his first organization, Geoff was driven to help kids out of their hopeless situations.
“I saw the power that we all have to fundamentally change someone’s lives. So more than monetary support, more than just giving food, [it’s] saying ‘You will be okay. We’ll find a solution for you.”
He heavily praises technological advancements as providing the way for this answer to come to fruition.
“As more people have access to the internet, to electricity, digital literacy is increased. I saw then a unique opportunity.
I saw the incredible benefit of having a global pool of talent that I could tap into and use. And I really saw the advantages of that.”
Geoff agrees that outsourcing opportunities can do a lot of good for a community.
“I just see that outsourcing solutions is really a way to address larger problems from both sides, from the organizational side in a high-income country, and also from the talent side, from the growth of the lower-income countries.”
He mentions that even a single family member having a job in outsourcing can effect change.
“So while one person may have, you know, quite a good job, but you see that household, that community change. So the ability to affect global change is, you know, it’s phenomenal.”
Achieving B Corp status
Geoff is proud that Work for Impact has been recognized as a B Corp organization, noting the positive connotations the title brings.
“You maintain the highest ethical standards in everything that you do…so working in a way that’s very good for humanity, but also very good for the people working through the actual organization.”
He likens the achievement to another recent honor the firm has received, a Silver Award in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Outsource Accelerator’s Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR) 2024.
He says they make an effort to live up to those values, especially when it comes to choosing partners.
“Having that structure and the motivation it gives to people [and] organizations that work through us, seeing the impact they have on the world and also the bottomline.”
