Outsourced Tech Development for the Healthcare Industry – with Tatsiana Kirimava of Orangesoft
In this episode of the Outsource Accelerator Podcast, Derek speaks with Tatsiana Kirimava, CEO and Co-Founder of Orangesoft. Orangesoft provides software development for healthcare companies.
They discuss Orangesoft’s healthcare tech niche, the advantage of borderless hiring, and the impact that AI could have on the software scene.
Orangesoft and its tech focus
Orangesoft has been in business for 14 years now. The company began life as an app developer for Apple devices, then moved into Encore medical devices as time went on.
Tatsiana recalls this as already a competitive time, but today’s scene has ramped it up even further.
“We see that we have a lot of experts in custom software development… for us it’s been extremely important to be focused on our own domains [where] we bring extra value.”
This led them to primarily supply tech solutions for the healthcare sector.
“We are mostly about adaptation for new technologies,” she explains, noting that the products have changed from centering on exact treatments to now attending more to prevention.
“Healthcare will grow. We are not getting healthier, but we are going to live longer, so we can support this process with the software and hardware.”
Tatsiana is confident in the skill of Orangesoft’s teams to handle whatever requirements the clients need.
“We have experts for all types of things needed for medical devices, [like] compliance and registrations for FDA and in different countries, similar stuff.”
Experience in working with global partners
While based in Silicon Valley, Orangesoft also has ample experience in dealing with clients from around the world.
Tatsiana explains a common difference between US and European businesses.
“In the US, I see how the people strongly focus [on] how to get net profit from their products. And they have a vision of how to achieve these financial results faster.
At the same time in Europe, I see how people are more focused on the lifetime balance, [on] the value of their products first, [and] money is second place.”
Still, she acknowledges that it wouldn’t be right to say what the best approach is, instead appreciating that there can be diversity.
“It’s really great that we have different ways of thinking and different ways of operations.”
This mentality carries over into her endorsement of hiring global teams remotely.
“I would recommend to every founder to try to talk with different people [and] service providers from different countries. Diversity will allow you to get more insights and take a look at your product from a different perspective.”
She believes that it definitely brings a more strategic advantage.
“We’re so global nowadays and there are no borders [when it comes to] hiring people. Legally, you can hire people from anywhere.
I feel that we have to focus on hiring people all over the world to create a diverse team with strong experience, expertise, and cultural fit.”
Finding a place for AI solutions
Tatsiana is all for the inclusion of AI into existing technologies and processes.
“We have to be cautious about what we’re doing with this AI, but in general, we can’t resist, we can’t say no to these technologies.
They’re already there and we have to figure out how we can use them safely, not just close our eyes and pretend they don’t exist.”
She feels that it’s come to the right point in history for AI to be able to use all the data that companies currently own, especially when it comes to healthcare.
“We’ve been collecting such a huge amount of data, but we had no chance to analyze it in the right way.
For healthcare [AI is] extremely important because we have all the time to make a decision about our patient based on the data.”
Tatsiana is of the opinion that this will only move us forward.
“Maybe our services will change after a time, but AI will not leave us without a job. We can be focused more on creating new solutions, we can be more productive.”
